What is a CNAME

CNAME stands for Canonical Name, it’s  a record that helps attach other domains or subdomains to an already existing domain.

Usually important when mapping several services that are running on a server on different ports to the domain name.

Example

ftp.truehost.cloud (name/service)

truhost.cloud(domain/ canonical name)

 

 

Changing on Truehost Portal.

 

Login to truehost client area.

Go Domains

Then my domains

Against the domain that you need to add A record

Click the manage Domain option

Then DNS Management

A table that require details will appear fill it as example below

Host name (WWWW)

Record type (CNAME (Alias))

Address (schools.truehost.cloud (canonical url - cname))

Priority (N/A)
