What is a flood?
Many of us think that a flood is too many water around Nairobi streets or even around your house. But flooding is far much more. It’s dangerous and it has the ability to sweep the whole city.
Flood is a natural occurrence where a piece of land (usually dry) is submerged under water. Whenever a flood happens in a residential area or even the in our streets, it carries along properties e.g. cars, houses, furniture and sometimes people.

What to do during floods.
- Turn off all electrical appliances eg tvs, radios etc.
- Do not drive through the water; moving water can sweep you away. Just 2 feet of water can float a large vehicle and sway it away.
- Try to keep away from flood waters coz it may contain dangerous chemicals.
