Recent findings about Facebook

Did you know some Facebook users don’t have an idea they are using internet? It’s a funny conclusion but it’s true.

I recently visited my village and I visited a newly opened cyber café by a recently graduated student. I asked one of the enthusiastic users of Facebook whether he uses internet.

I asked “do you use internet?”  “No I don’t use internet I only use Facebook” he answered so to him internet don’t exist only Facebook has its existence.

This is not only in Kenya, a recent in Nigeria and Indonesia also shows this trend.  A survey by Geopol shows that’s 11% of the Facebook users in Indonesia don’t use internet and 9% of Facebook users in Nigeria don’t use internet. The number of respondents for this survey was 500.

Well, the survey maybe limited to only a few countries but am sure this represent many Facebook users especially in developing countries who do not have an idea of the difference between Facebook and internet or their linking point. With this trend am afraid someone will walk in a shop and order Facebook.

This trend also explains a very interesting strength that the penetration rate of Facebook in very high and this is the aspect marketers are using to advertise on Facebook.
